After a well played game last night against Northport-Huntington, with a 4-1 victory the T-Birds have locked up a playoff spot for the 5th season in a row. The game saw continuous offensive pressure from the T-Birds, and an opposing goalie who was on top of his game to keep the game competitive. The Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the 1st period; however it was only a matter of time before the T-Birds broke through. Senior Captain Ryan Flesichauer scored to make it 1-1 on a great team play from Senior Jack Mercado sacrificing him self to get the puck deep to the Captain who made terrific individual play to put the puck in the net. Senior Brent Brdey scored on a great passing play from Mercado and Fleischauer for the eventual game winning goal, with a nice shot from the high slot.
Senior Matt Campagnola iced the game with a pair of goals late in the 2nd and start the 3rd period. These goals were assisted by Joe Villani and Brent Brdey respectively. Shane Kirby earned his 4th win of the season with another solid performance, making saves on the last 22 shots he faced. Shane has been playing his best goaltending as they head into the Playoff season. The game was very well played by everyone, and they will need similar efforts for the last two games of the season, and into the extra season!
