The T-Birds JV team played to it’s second 1 goal victory over the West Islip squad this season, 2-1 win late on Friday Night. Their first match up had a similar outcome with a 3-2 victory; two evenly matched teams. Alex Clark played very well in net, helping the squad to their 6th win of the season, now at 6-10-1 for this season.
THEO TANZI, 10th Grade Sayville, scored his second goal of the season to open up the scoring. It came half way through the first period, with assists to ALEX THEODORELLIS & BRADY HALL, both their second assists of the season.
PAUL WAGNER put home what would be the game winning goal with on :12 left in the first period. The goal was set up by a nice passing play by Nick Masi, his second assist of the Season. For Wagner it was his 7th point of the season and has had the hot hand with now 3 goals in the last 2 games.
Alex Clark continued to make key save after key save throughout the 2nd and 3rd period to preserve the win. The only goal against came shorthanded early in the 3rd period, but Alex kept his strong play and it resulted in a big team win.
JV closes out their season on Jan. 23rd vs. St. Anthony’s Black at 7:50pm.
On a side note, normally we have not reported loses but the efforts of our Freshmen team on Friday was outstanding. Previous losing 12-3 verse Smithtown’s top tier team this season, the squad put an outstanding effort and came up short losing 3-1. Goaltender Reilly Hanley was the star of the game for both teams, and the 2nd star was the entire team! What a terrific effort of playing Team Defense, keep it up Team.
