Junior Goalie Matt Hughes back stopped the T-Birds to 3-2 victory in a tight contest over Rivals East Islip. The game feature two teams playing with many missing parts, but the T-Birds 13 Skaters bested their opponents.

1st period action saw the East Islip team taking many quality shots on the T-Birds, but with good goaltending and excellent defensive coverage the secondary opportunities were limited. East Islip did open up the scoring but only 2 minutes after going down 1-0 Senior Jackson Tomforde once again provided the spark that this squad needed with his 6th goal of the season. Stripping the Defensemen of the puck and beating the goalie with a great shot Glove Side.

Sophomore Logan Keil had his coming out party scoring his first goal of the season, and adding an assist later in the game. Logan was vital to the team’s win, while applying constant pressure on East Islip’s team defense, as well as providing a very physical presence.

The game winning goal came off the stick of Senior Sean Connolly, his 3rd of the season, on a beautiful passing play with Ryan Fleischauer and Logan Keil. Once again proving those who go to the net get rewarded, as Connolly had a tap in goal, and at the time made it 3-1.

The teams 4 man defensive unit of George Vadyak, Matteo Marchese, Daniel Jung, and Brent Brdey logged a lot of minutes and were pivotal to the teams success vs East Islip. Congrats to Junior Brent Brdey tallying his first point on the season, assisting on Logan Keil’s goal. All three lines were effective for the T-Birds in this much needed win.

Varsity is back in action on Weds at 7:50pm vs Sachem.
