On Wednesday the T-Birds Varsity had it’s best team effort of the season came away with a 7-0 win over Longwood. The game marked many firsts of the seasons. First game of the season for Paul Wagner (who also scored his first Varsity goal), First Shutout of the season, and many First goals of the season for multiple players.
The scoring opened with Brent Brdey beating the goalie with a shot from the point after a creative pass from Ricky Guterwell, who sent an alley-oop pass from behind the goal to Brdey. This was Brent Brdey’s first goal of the season. The scoring continued with a fast break goal from Matt Campagnola (2nd of the season) from Ryan Fleischauer.
With a two nothing lead going into the 2nd period the T-Birds scored three quick goals from Zack Martin, Paul Wagner, and Brady Hall – all three netting their first goals of the season. Assists on these goals were rewarded to Ryan Delucie, Jack Mercado, and Matt Campagnola.
In the 3rd frame the T-Birds completed their scoring with goals from Eathan Brdey from Matt Campagnola and Chase Haggerty (his first of the season) from Ryan Fleischauer.
Alex Clark was solid in goal, making save on each of the 15 shots faced. A great defensive game from all skaters on the ice is what lead to the dominant win. It was great to see 7 different goal scorers on the score sheet, everyone contributing.
T-Birds play Smithtown Hauppauge next Sunday evening at 7:50pm and we hope to see everyone there wearing your White gear.
