On March 15th the Freshman Gold team will play for a Win and In game vs. Northport at 6:30pm. The Gold team plays in the leagues Developmental Division, and this team has truly done just that – DEVELOP! It is the first season in which the Program has fielding a team in this Division and players & coaches have taken full advatage of this opportuntiy.

The team has compiled 9-10 record after starting the season 2 wins and 7 losses. A win on March 15th will not only pull them to a .500 record but also lock up a 4th place finish, good enough for the playoffs. The Program is very proud of these players and their ability to come together as a team. Team can also clinch a playoff birth with a West Islip loss March 12th v Kings Park.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Opening Game Loss to Kings Park (14 wins 5 loses) by a score of 10-3, last game played vs Kings Park 4-2 Win

Defensemen Patrick Hinteman jumping in the net for a 5-3 come from behind win over Sachem (9-8-1).

Fantastic goaltending all season from Danny Friers, who has been the example to his teammates from the start of the season that hard work and no quit will pay off. Danny has been good in all games, even early on when the scores would make you think differentally.

We have also had the help of other Freshmen goalies/players throughout the season – big thank you to Matt Proscia and Jake Degenfelder for playing goal as needed due to conflicts.

Team is lead by Logan Dietz in scoring with 47 points (35 goals, 12 assist) in 19 Games. He is playing is first competitive season of Ice Hockey, and has a bright future. In addition Nate Tanzi and Chace McManus consistent contributors for the Team averaging 1 point a game. And the team also has had 11 players contribute with at least on goal and 14 players registering an assist.

Good luck to the team and coaches heading into March 15th at 6:30pm. A job well done for the regular season, heres to bigger things for the second season!
